What the Oscar is to the film industry, the German Packaging Award is to the packaging and corrugated board industry.
At this year's packaging prize, Gissler & Pass was once again awarded an accolade. In the "Promotional and Display Packaging“ category, the corrugated board specialist was able to score with a display solution for the product Listerine by Johnson & Johnson, Neuss and secured the coveted trophy.
With the award, the jury recognised the optimal combination of the display's high brand recognition value – a life-like product replica of the Listerine bottle – and very easy access to the product.
Lutz Werner, packaging developer at Gissler & Pass and award winner for the idea of the display: "The design of the bottle was the guiding theme during the design and construction. The unique diagonally crossed contoured posters give the display 3D-elements, create a spatial product experience and minimise the material required. The association with a supersize product ensures that the customer's interest is captured and that the display also maintains its attractiveness even during the sale.“
Under the motto "pack the future“, the German Packaging Institute (dvi) awarded prizes to 22 new developments in seven categories this year from a total of 276 entries. Innovative and functional solutions from designers, developers and manufacturers who are setting the trends for the future of the packaging market were awarded prizes. In Gissler & Pass' winning category "Promotional and Display Packaging“, five exhibits were nominated and two of these five were awarded prizes as part of the opening celebration for the FachPack trade fair 2010 on 27th September 2010.
"We are very proud to be able to walk away with this innovative sector Oscar from the packaging industry. Once again, this award proves how important a development and design team is which excels through innovation, creativity, technical intelligence and quality,“ said Thomas Gissler-Weber, Managing Director of Gissler & Pass GmbH with regards to the award. “We would like to thank Johnson & Johnson for their good and close collaboration. Because it is only when all of the parties involved are clear about the brand philosophy and the aims of the marketing campaign right from the start that the promotion will be successful at the point of sale.“
This national award also qualifies the award winners to take part in the global "WorldStar Packaging Award".
